Sutton Hoo Chickens
We are delighted to be a longstanding retailer of Sutton Hoo free range and organic chicken. Chicken as nature intended.Sutton Hoo Chicken is a family business that was started at Kennel Farm in Hasketon in 1996 by Charles and Belinda Nash. Production moved to the lighter land at Sutton Hoo in 2001 and to reflect this move the brand name has recently changed from Kennel Farm Chickens to Sutton Hoo.
So why are Sutton Hoo chickens different?
Diet: Mainly wheat and GM free it contains no antibiotics, growth promoters or drugs of any kind. (This applies to both organic and free range).
Freerange: They really are……..! Sutton Hoo chickens live in small groups based in mobile houses and they range over 40 acres of pasture.
Welfare: Great emphasis is placed on the welfare of the chickens. The houses are freshly strawed daily and are lit and ventilated naturally.
Flavour: Their lifestyle, diet and the fact that they are a naturally slow growing, old fashioned bird, combine to give the meat a wonderful texture and a delicious full flavour.
One question always asked is what is the difference between Organic and Free Range? THEY ARE ALL FREE RANGE WITHIN THE SAME LIFESTYLES.
The organic chickens range on organically registered land and have an organic diet.
The free range chickens have a drug free diet milled from conventionally locally-grown crops.
